Review: Despicable Me

Review: Despicable Me

From the first trailer of Despicable Me, I can’t say that I was really excited. It took me the longest to figure out what the movie was about. Was going to really be a plot? By the last trailer, I finally got to see that Gru, the main villain was a dad with 3 daughters. Hum…

To be totally honest I’m spoiled and I have Pixar to thank for that. I can’t watch a computer generated animated movie without looking for real emotional moment. I need to get teary eyed in the movie and it didn’t happen in Despicable Me. Now don’t get me wrong, it was a cute movie. My 4 year old Goddaughter cracked up laughing during the movie. And there were several parts that I laughed but there wasn’t anything really memorable about the movie. I can barely tell you one character’s name and the only line I remember from the film is also in the trailer so I don’t know where I really remember it from. Sad, huh?

I’m not sure what was missing from the movie to make it great but it just didn’t make it. I say wait until DVD or go to a matinee movie. Don’t spend a lot of money and don’t expect this to be better than Up, ‘cause it isn’t!
