Review: Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 takes place six months after the first movie with Tony Stark even more arrogant than he was in the first movie. Personally, I didn’t think that was possible. The US government wants his technology to create more iron men but Stark won’t give up the technology.

Thinking that no other country could copy his iron man suit for at least 10 years, Stark thumbs his nose at everyone until he meets his match, a Russian named Ivan Vanko. They fight. The good guy wins, then the bad guy wins then the good guy wins. That’s it.

So I’ve basic told the whole story. Okay, there is a little bit more, not but much more. I saw a post online that said ‘Something was missing’. And I have to agree. I’m not sure what it was or what was needed but it was something.

The chemistry between Robert Downey, Jr and Don Cheadle was really good. They played off of each other very nicely. But the chemistry between Downey and Gwyneth Paltrow was really lacking. If you didn’t see the first movie, you wouldn’t really be sure that they were together. Things just didn’t fit right.

I loved the set up for the Avengers movie. That was great. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury was great casting. I just think that Iron Man isn’t going to have the legs that it should.

Now I will say that you should go see it on the big screen. You have to get the full effect of the movie. You won’t be disappointed if you pay full price but you’ll be a LOT happier if you pay matinee. Oh, and you MUST say until the very, very end after the credits end to see the “surprise”.
